We have several varieties, though not that one right now. It is one we carry but it’s not available just yet.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We don’t carry Barberry any more as they are on the Invasive Species list here in Delaware.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We have a couple of White Bird of Paradise but none of the smaller orange ones right now. We do carry them from time to time so if you are interested stop in and give us your name and phone number and we will try to get one for you!

We carry many Easter plants, flowers, bulbs, and decorations, but we do not carry Cemetery Palm Crosses.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we carry numerous varieties of tall garden phlox (Phlox paniculata varieties). They are typically a summer bloomer so we should start to carry them in May.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we are happy to do repotting. There is a time an materials charge and usually we can do it the same day depending on how busy we are.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

This kind of birch doesn’t do well in our hot, humid summers and if planted around here is often very short-lived. We do not carry it for that reason.

  1. Alyssa Lohr

Hello, I’ve studied plants independently since I was a kid. I wanted to know if you’re still hiring.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We are always accepting applications, though we are coming into our slow part of the year. Please stop in and fill out an application, you never know what will be available at any given time.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry we don’t. And apologies for the slow response….I missed your question! We do have Dappled Willow (Salix integra ‘Hakuro Nishiki) which is a shrub, if that might fit the bill.

  2. Tracey Binder

Looking for a crepe myrtle that can withstand zone 6b winters. I don’t want it to get huge 8 ft high max but smaller is fine too. Love the fuschia color. Do you carry that?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We do carry red tip Photinia and will be getting it in early May. We are having trouble finding Pampas grass, but it is on our ‘find it’ list. Please check back in late May to see if we were successful!

  3. J.J. Aikens

Hello. Will you carry Craspedia “Billy Buttons” this spring/ summer? Is it perennial or annual in North Wilmington? Thanks.

      1. J.J. Aikens

Thanks Susan. It makes such a cute dried cut flower for arrangements. Only wish it was hardy here.
        Happy June!!!

  4. Richard Giles

Do you have Otto Luyken Laurel? I one about 2’ diam to replace one that didn’t survive the winter.

  5. Paul Beane

Would you please ask Christian to call Paul regarding a landscaping issue that has been ongoing for quite some time without resolution?

  6. Jane Strobel

A GiGi’s Thank you to Old Country Gardens,
    Sunday Dec 5 th
First I would like to thank the man who answered my phone call and went to look to see if there was a nativity set in stock suitable for a child.
Also the staff lady who searched their stock area in section M for the only one remaining other than the display model.
Next, the staff lady who told the beautiful story of the same hand carved nativity set she gave to her niece as a wedding present and how her niece cherished it and it is now a year round display in her household..
Also, The two ladies that took time to individually tissue wrap each piece so I could leave and go directly to my granddaughters house and give it to her as a gift.
Each one of you truly made this purchase special for me to give and for my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter to receive.
The entire family was thrilled with the Beautiful hand carved Olive Wood nativity set .
She and I spent the next hour reenacting the Christmas Eve in Bethlehem so many years ago.

Again , Thank You Old Country Gardens
    Jane

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Thank you so much for taking time to tell us how well the gift was received and the pleasure it brought! Isn’t this one of the things that helps make Christmas special! Your comment is a gift that makes us all smile too!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we welcome well mannered pups everywhere but inside our shop. It’s so much better to have them join you in a stroll around our nursery than sit in the car!!! We strongly disagree with leaving animals in the car unattended, they heat up so fast we worry about their safety.

  7. Bob Dickol

During a visit to OCG I believe I saw you offered Dyed Black Cedar mulch. Is this correct, and do you still offer this? What is the cost? Bulk or bags? Delivery? 100% cedar or blend?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Bob,
Yes, we still have dyed black cedar mulch in stock. It comes in 3 CF bags and costs $7.99. We do not sell it in bulk. We can deliver but there is a delivery charge and a minimum order, so you would need to call the shop to confirm what that would be depending on where you live and how much you want.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Claire. Yes, we have a good selection of different Japanese Maple cultivars. Please stop in and check them out!

  8. Brian Swetlin

I am trying to locate three copper river beech trees to plant this fall. Do you have any or can you locate for me to purchase?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Brian,
We carry river birch, and we carry american beech trees. I wonder if what you are looking for is a Copper Beech? We don’t have any of those in stock, but could probably order one for you. Please give our shop a call!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Angela. No, I’m sorry, we don’t. We do have Blue Prince which looks very similar and unless you are trying to match existing plants will work well as a substitute.

  9. Deb Gangemi

Will you carry lettuce plants for autumn planting? If so, when do you expect them to be available? Thanks!

  10. Joan Cummings

I have 3 Winterberry bushes but NO red berries in the fall/winter. Apparently I need a female plant in order to have berries. Do you have 2-3 female Winterberry bushes?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Joan,
You are right, Winterberries are a kind of holly and so have male and female plants. The female plants are the ones who have the berries and the male plants are the ones whose pollen fertilizes the flowers on the female plants to produce the berries, so you need both a male and a female. Winterberries also happen to be kind of picky about which winterberry they match up with and that has to do with the time of flowering. Both the male and female flowers have to be open at the same time. So, my suggestion is to watch your winterberries carefully next spring and when you see the flowers start to open up, snip a branch with flowers and bring it in, we will try to match you up with the correct mate. The flowers are very small, 1/6-18″ and off white, so look carefully along the stems as the new leaves are coming out. Best of luck!

      1. Anonymous

Thank you. I’ll have to do without the beautiful red berries this winter but will stop in with a cutting when the flowers appear next year.

      2. Joan Cummings

Thank you. I’ll have to do without the beautiful red berries this winter but will bring in a cutting w/ flowers next spring.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Denise,
That’s a lovely one, but we haven’t seen it available this spring. We’ll keep looking!

  11. Karen Pontari

I’m interested in a crimson pointe tree. Do you deliver and plant the tree. What is the price of the tree and also, if applicable, the price for delivery and planting. Thank you

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Karen,
This is not a plant we carry. We do have other columnar trees for sale that might fit your bill. I would encourage you to stop by and look at them to see. We can also deliver and install trees for you. Typically installation is 50% of the cost of the tree with a $150 minimum, as long as the site is empty of stumps or other impediments. If there is more work than just planting we will charge for time an material. Delivery charges are dependent on your location.
Hope to see you in the nursery!

      1. Matthew Tornabe

I was wondering if you could help me out I have a planting that’s under a walnut tree alongside the road should be salt tolerant that is also somewhat deer resistant looking for evergreen shrubs. Currently there are taxus growing there but the deer eat them to Stubs

        1. Susan Depietropaolo

          Hi Matthew,
Wow, it’s like you looked for the absolutely most difficult location to plant! Those 4 factors add up to exclude practically everything I can think of. Shade, salt, juglone, deer. Sigh. The best recommendation I can make is to try Juniperus virginiana(Virginia Red Cedar). It is tolerant of salt, deer, and somewhat tolerant of juglone. They even will tolerate some shade when they are young, and walnut trees typically don’t really have a dense canopy so worth a try. We do have some nice ones in stock right now so stop in and check them out.

  12. Skye

    Hi there,

Do you sell succulents in bulk? My fiancé and I are considering buying 75-100 little succulents as wedding favors, and we’d love to go through someone local if possible. Is this something you do? If so, do you have a general estimate? Thanks so much!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Lea. We have them on order and will be getting them in from the grower in the next week or two. How many do you need?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Glen, sorry for the delayed response! Had to check the order with the grower. The answer is no, this is not a variety we will carry this year. We have other climbing roses, but no David Austin climbers.

  13. Deb

It’s that time of year when gardeners start itching to get outside. Do you have cool weather veggie plants in yet (spinach, lettuce, kale)? If not, when do you expect them? Thanks so much!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry we don’t have either of these in stock. We do carry eucalyptus plants during the growing season but not during the winter for a houseplant. The insulin plant (Costus igneus) is an unusual and beautiful tropical plant that makes a good houseplant in the proper situations. We don’t have any currently but will keep an eye out for them!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we carry numerous varieties of Dracaena in large sizes and we currently have some white Bird of Paradise in stock. If you are looking for larger plants, we can often order them if you give us some time to locate them.

  14. Karen Kohler

I need a tray of succulents to make a topiary. Do you have any at this time of the year? How much does a tray of 25 plants cost? Do you have any succulents on sale?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Karen,
Yes, we have lots of small succulents that you could use to make a topiary available now. They are mostly $4.99 a plant. Come check our our selection!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

That’s not one we usually have in stock, but it is offered by Monrovia. You could order directly from them and have it shipped to Old Country Gardens with our next shipment to avoid the shipping charge. Check out the ‘Shop On Line With Monrovia’ page here on our website. We may take a look at this new cultivar and give it a try in the Spring as well, but we are done shipping new material for this fall.

  15. sarah

Hi – do you have any red crepe myrtle trees/shrubs? If not red, do you have pink?

    what is the price?

    many thanks

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Sarah! We have no red Crape Myrtles left at this time, but we do have pink in a tree form @ $249.99 and bush form in a 5 Gal. container at $64.99.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Savanna! We carry a wide variety of native plants! Stop by and talk to our experts and we can show you what we have.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Grace,
Yes we have two sizes of Monstera right now, $29.99 and $49.99. We also have another Philodendron similar to the Mostera call ‘Xanadu’ at $39.99.
We have a number of Ficus (fig) trees that range from $99.99 to $149.99. Some are braided and some are not, and there are numerous varieties of Ficus that have different leaf shapes and characteristics. We have a well stocked greenhouse so hope you can come and take a look!

  16. Maddy MacDonald

Hello, do you have currently have any snake plants, Kangaroo Ferns, Boston ferns, Asparagus ferns, Chinese money plants, parlor palms, or pony tail palms? If so, could you let me know their prices? Thank you!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Maddy,
Currently we have numerous varieties of snake plant, prices $8.99 – $49.99
      Parlor palm $49.99
      Kangaroo Fern $34.99
Boston Fern – not at the moment, but one we usually carry
Asparagus Fern – not at the moment, but one we usually carry
      Ponytail Palm $29.99
Chinese Money Plant – not at this time, but we often carry

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes! We have some in a one gallon size for $39.99 and one tree form in a two gallon pot for $119.99. Nothing beats the smell of their flowers and the fruit is very tasty!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, over the growing season we carry numerous varieties of evening primrose. Right now we have Oenothera fruticosa ‘Fireworks’, a nice compact prolific bloomer. This is a good native pollinator plant too!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, that’s not a variety we have carried, though we have had the standard Verbena bonariensis for sale this spring. We will keep an eye out for the ‘Meteor Shower’ cultivar though, it sounds like a nice one. Sorry we can’t help you right now but thanks for the heads up!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

      Hi Phil,
No we don’t carry live ladybugs. I don’t think they will be useful indoors in isolated areas. Ladybugs are voracious eaters and will quickly eat your small population of aphids and start roaming the house looking for more to eat. A good way to control aphids on houseplants is to physically wash them off. Usually careful hosing down of the affected plant every 2 or 3 days for a short while will eliminate the aphids and you will break the cycle. I would recommend that method over releasing Ladybugs and having them wandering around your house and starving!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have a few Asters, though it’s still early in the season for them as they are a fall bloomer.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry, we don’t, but we do have numerous other varieties that might suit your needs. Please check us out!

  17. Jessica Shoemaker

Hi, was wondering if you still had the bird bath that had 3 women standing underneath it. If so, how much and can you email me the picture? My husband is wanting to know what to get for my bday 🙂

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry we don’t. We do have Bird’s Nest Spruce, which gets a little larger than the Little Gem, but still quite small and a lovely plant.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, sorry. That is a very difficult plant to obtain….it is illegal to collect it from the wild so growers can only grow it from seed, division, or tissue culture all of which take a long time to get a saleable plant. It’s cultural requirements are pretty specific too, so if you find some be sure you have an appropriate home!
The only terrestrial orchids we carry are the Bletilla. They are charming and vigorous and will bloom well in this region, though native to China and Japan.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No we don’t have it in right now but it is something we usually get. I will be sure to order it as soon as it’s available. Please check back with us in a few weeks.

    2. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi again! We just got some Purple Love Grass in and it’s beautiful! Come check it out!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

That’s one we usually carry but it’s too early to get it. It’s a fall bloomer so we usually don’t get it in until the summer. Please check back!

    2. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi again! We just got some Caryopteris ‘Dark Knight’ in….not the Longwood Blue, but very nice. Good deep blue and vigorous full plants. Check them out!

  18. Tom Gangemi

Are you getting any large Betula nigra ‘Heritage’ trees in this year? We purchased one last year and like it so much we want 3 more. Must be this year’s stock with 3 or more trunks, preferably > 8 ft tall.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We have already sold all but one of our large River Birches that came in this spring. We may be getting more in, but please check back with us and see in about a month. Glad you are enjoying the tree you planted last year!!!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We do not have the night sky petunias, though we have a large selection of petunias so check us out!
Water hyacinths won’t be in until it’s warmer…..when will that be? 🙂

  19. Mary Baltycki

I would like to purchase a gift card/certificate for my daughter, who lives in Wilmington, for Mother’s Day. I do not see the option on your website. Please let me know how I can do this.

  20. Tom Luhr

I am looking for a Acer Griseum, paperbark maple. Would like a larger one say 4 to 6 feet. Can you tell me if you have or can get them and the price, thanks

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry we don’t have any at this time. That is a tree we carry, so we may get some more in later this spring. Please check back!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Believe it or not, it’s still too cool for Impatiens. They are especially sensitive to the cold. We will be getting new plants in daily and as soon as it’s warm enough for them we will be getting them in! Please check back soon.

  21. Pat DiPietro

I’m looking for 10 gallon pots for tomatoes. Also Kellogg Potting Mix, garden lime, 10-10-10 fertilizer, and Rose Tone Fertilizer for Hydrangeas.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We carry many different kinds and sizes of pots and I’m sure we have something that would work for you. We don’t carry Kellogg Potting Mix, but rather Black Gold potting mix which we highly recommend. We do have garden lime, 10-10-10 fertilizer, and Rose Tone fertilizer. We are currently open 8-5:30 M,T, F, and 8-5 Sat, 10-4:30 on Sunday. Stop in and check us out, we are following all safety precautions for COVID – 19.

  22. Chelsey

Good morning, I was seeing if you have any okame cherry trees? Also, if you’re offering delivery and planting options?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

That is not a variety we have on order for this spring, though it is one we probably can get. We offer delivery and planting so please give our shop a call (on Monday, Wednesday, or Saturday 8am-5pm when we are open during the covid – 19 crisis) and we can work out details.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Not yet. That’s been a tough one to find this year. It’s popularity outstripped it’s availability it looks like. We will keep looking so check back later in the spring, we may find it yet!

        1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have lots of beautiful salvia. We just got some Russian Sage in, though as you know it is a warm weather plant and is only just getting started and is still small.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have 5 or 6 varieties of heather in stock now….colors ranging from pink, to white, to purple with different foliage colors.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

It’s a bit cold for both of these plants yet, though we do have a few Hummingbird mint that are just emerging. We should be getting both of these in in the next few weeks, weather depending.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We have some shrubs and perennials that will tolerate wet feet in stock now, but we won’t be getting our pond plants, which include true bog plants, in for several weeks.

  23. Deb

    Two questions this morning:
    1) Do you have carrot and beet seeds in stock?
    2) When will broccoli and tomato plants be available?

    I appreciate your help!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have both carrot and beet seeds. We also have all the cool season veggies like broccoli, cabbage, collards, lettuces, etc. in stock. Tomatoes are warm season plants and it will be a few weeks before we have them in. They aren’t happy until the ground has warmed up a bit.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we will carry Pretty in Pink Eden as well as numerous climbers including White Dawn, New Dawn, Don Juan, Golden Showers and Polka. Our roses should be in early to mid-April weather depending!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, though we usually carry chimeneas in the fall. Let me check into our spring orders and see if we will have any coming in then and I’ll get back to you.

  24. Christina Thomas

Can you tell me if you have or will be getting any begonia maculata wightii , or philodendron silver sword?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi Christina, No we don’t carry either one of these though we will be getting a begonia in a week or two that will look very similar to the Wightii. Maybe it would be a good replacement?

  25. Susan

    Hi Old Country Gardens,
Wondering if you stock Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica) – bare root plants, can you tell me the price and availability please Thank you,

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Hi! No we don’t stock them bare root. We will carry the live plants in the early spring….we will know late March/early April when they will be available.

  26. Phyllis clark

Do you sell any of the following house plants:
    Nerve plant
    ZZ plant
    Spider plant
    Arrowhead plant
    Calathea
    Thank you!!

  27. BP Roberts

I have a hoya plant on which the leaves are yellowing and dropping off. I read that I need to feed with hydrolized fish fertilizer and was wondering if you carry this product.

    thank you

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we do carry that. When you come in, bring a leaf or two and we can try to help confirm what the problem might be….there are lots of reasons for yellowing leaves in addition to fertilizer requirements.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we sell what we call a Cemetery Mounds for around $69.99. They are typically approximately 3′ x 2′. Please see the attached picture of a sample from last year.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry we don’t have any in stock, but Monrovia carries this group of Rose of Sharon. You can order directly from them and have it shipped here to Old Country Gardens the next time we have a shipment from them and you save on shipping. Go to the ‘Shop online with Monrovia’ page of our website and it will walk you through the process.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, just japonica right now, the spring bloomer. The sasanqua is a fall bloomer and we will have it in then.

  28. Pete Klemans

Hello – I’m trying to find Rose Creek Abelia and wondering if it might be something you have in stock. I’m also interested in Eleanor Taber Indian Hawthorn, Ever Red Fringe Flower and Prairie Fire Dogwood. All of these can be purchased online directly from Monrovia, but I thought it best to check with you before ordering direct. Thank You!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We don’t have any of those, though you can order from Monrovia and have them delivered to our nursery with one of our orders and save yourself the delivery charges.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

That is a variety we do carry, though they haven’t come in yet. We should have them in the next week or two.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry. We have not been able to find it for sale so we will not have it for the foreseeable future. We do have other types of Philodendrons like selloum and Zanadu.

    1. Liana

Hi Susan, wondering if you have lemon grass or any other plant suggestions which may deter mosquitos that I can plant in containers for my patio? Thanks

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We normally carry a number of different plants that are good mosquito deterrents, but we don’t have any currently in stock. We’re on the lookout, so hopefully we will get some back in soon.

  30. Diane

I recently purchased a small juniper bonsai tree in a very small container. How frequently should it be watered? Does it need plant food? How can i tell if I am watering too frequently or not enough? Thank you

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We have some very helpful care sheets for each kind of bonsai that we sell. If you didn’t get one when you purchased yours please stop by and pick one up! Juniper bonsai are more tolerant than many bonsai, so you have some leeway about watering and fertilizer, but try to keep it from drying out completely. You may need to water every few days depending on the conditions you have it in. Again, please stop by and grab a care sheet!

  31. Diane

Do you carry dwarf varieties of Japanese maples? Can i plant in a planter/pot? When is the best time to plant? Thank you.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Japanese maples come in many sizes and yes, some are small enough for containers. We have quite a few varieties, so stop by and see what would work for you.

Thanks! We love what we do and enjoy sharing ideas and information. The world of Horticulture is a beautiful and fascinating place!!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes we can plant any trees or shrubs you purchase from us. Weeping willow isn’t something we regularly stock, but we can order it for you. Pink dogwood is something we do keep in stock.

I believe you have sold olive trees in past years, presumably from Monrovia in California.

I have a 15 year old olive tree from central Italy. It has never produced olives. I haul the terra-cotta pot in each fall.

Do I need to fertilize it heavily, be patient or does it need a mate?

If you can’t answer without seeing the 5 foot tree, can you direct me to someone who may be able to offer suggestions? Thank you very much. By the way, you have a wonderful shop!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Olive trees are self-fertile, so can set fruit without another olive tree around, but you will get better pollination with another tree around for cross-pollination. Olive trees can’t handle temperatures below 20 degrees (or so) so keeping it indoors for the winter is a good idea, but need to have about 2 months of temperatures below 50 degrees to stimulate flowering. If you keep your tree as a houseplant, wait until all danger of frost has passed before moving it outside in spring. Help it acclimate by keeping it in a sheltered spot for the first few days and gradually expose it to more sunshine and wind. Keep checking to make sure the soil doesn’t dry out. After 7 to 10 days, put your olive tree in full sun. It can vacation outside until frost. Before you bring it back in, reverse the acclimation process. Move it back into a partially shaded spot for a week to 10 days to help it adjust to the lower light levels in your home. Olive trees are pretty heavy feeders, so fertilize once a month in the fall and winter and twice a month in the spring and summer. Good Lunck!

      1. A & B

Do you recommend regular Miracle Gro, Miracle Gro Bloom Booster part of the year or something else Susan?

I want a lot of olives so my wife falls in love with the tree :). Hasn’t happened yet 🙁

        Thanks again!

        1. Susan Depietropaolo

Miracle Gro for houseplants would be fine for your olive tree, or other balanced house plant fertilizers…not a bloom booster. Tell your wife to be patient, it will be worth it!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, we don’t typically carry the black bamboo but we do carry Meyer lemon trees. They will come in when things warm up a bit more!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We carry a wide selection of roses for the landscape, including numerous small flowered varieties but we don’t carry the small 4″ pots with the very tiny plants. That size plant is usually for indoor gardening and roses don’t make good house plants!

  37. Jim

Dear Friends, I am placing my home on the market in the next two weeks. I have a planter 4’x8′ on the sidewalk which parallels my front porch. I live in a row house on a small city street. The planter has a single leaf-bare red bud tree about five feet tall and no other plantings. What can I plan this time of the year to give my house some color?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We have a great selection of pansies, primroses, and other cool-weather annuals that will give your planter a boost of color. It looks like a chance of snow mid-week next week so you might want to wait until after that to plant, but after that it looks like clear sailing to put these beauties in.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes we sell and install Arborvitae and will have 8′ plants coming in this spring. Our warranty on woody plant material we install covers a full price replacement once for the period on one year (provided the plant received proper care).

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we will carry numerous varieties of Campanula. We don’t usually carry Gentians, but if you are interested we can order some for you. Please give our desk a call and leave your name and phone number and how many you want and we can order them for you.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We usually carry Imperial Star and expect to get them in mid-April. We will keep our eyes open for the Lulu hybrid! If you want to be called when they come in call our shop and give them your name and phone number.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we do! We have containers ready for planting, lots of great container plants, and we can do the planting for you if you would like!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we do carry a wide variety of succulents and cacti priced from $2.99 to $199.99, lots of sizes and styles.

  38. Gail Schiffhauer

Do you sell the large hanging baskets poles that are attached to your front fence? If so, how much are they?
We lost our 2 back yard trees for hanging bird feeders from and the short poles are not squirrel proof at all. I thought the basket poles would work.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we carry lots of styles of hanging basket poles. We have one right now that attaches to a railing (or fence that has a horizontal member that you can clamp on to). It is about 4′ long and adjustable and costs $29.99. We will have more styles in the spring, so come check us out!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

So Sorry, we don’t have any in stock right now, but we have them coming in in the spring. Please check back with us in late March/ early April.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

The largest indoor hanging basket pots we have are 12″ in diameter. We do carry 16 wire baskets with coco liners but they are porous so don’t work very well in the house. Hope that is helpful!

  39. J

could you tell me the price range of your bonsai trees? also I’m looking for a indoor tree. do you have any that could survive mostly indoors.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We have lots of indoor Bonsai. The prices range from $24.99-$199.99. We also carry Bonsai containers, books and supplies.

  40. Tom

I bought a potted Meyer Lemon tree from OCG earlier this year. I did great outside in full sun but I knew I couldn’t replicate the sun exposure once I had to bring indoors. Now of course it is showing this stress. Do you “rent” space in your greenhouses to overwinter plants such as these until Spring? If so, what is cost? THanks.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, unfortunately we don’t have enough space for that. If you can find a bright window (south facing preferably) it will adapt and perk along until spring. Don’t worry if it looses some leaves as it adjusts to the change in light and humidity from the outside to the inside. That’s normal. Keep it evenly moist and warm. If you don’t have a bright enough window you could try to supplement with a plant light. Good luck!

I have been all over this webpage repeatedly and it is completely devoid of both contact information and location information. This is incredibly frustrating.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

So sorry to hear you had trouble finding our contact and location information! All of this information is found on our ‘Hours and Info’ tab. Hope to see you soon!

    2. Master p

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have a few lavender left, and lots of nice snake plants (several varieties!), but no gardenia or jasmine right now. We will be getting some of those in as we get closer to the Christmas holidays.

  42. Gerard O'Leary

We have a place in Elkton MD and had to take out four trees. Our permission letter says we need to plant eight Bushes from 3 gal containers that are indiginous to the state of Maryland. Do you have any that fit this requirement?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We are all out of this one for the fall, but can get you one in the spring. Check back late March to early April!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we carry a complete line of bonsai supplies: pots, tools, wire, stone, soil, how-to books, etc. plus a good selection of finished bonsai and starter plants.

Hi! Yes, we carry three Amsonias:
Amsonia tabernaemontana ‘Blue Ice’ which makes a 2′ wide mound of narrow, dark green, deer-resistant foliage and is topped in early spring with large clusters of very dark lavender-blue flowers.
Amsonia tabernaemontana ‘Storm Cloud’ which features near black stems in spring with silver-veined dark green leaves. Leaves lighten to olive green by summer. Light periwinkle-blue, star-shaped flowers bloom abundantly from late spring to early summer, often with some rebloom thereafter. Plants typically grow to 24-30” tall spreading to as much as 42” wide.
Amsonia hubrechtii which is a graceful and long-lived native plant with very fine foliage, clusters of steel blue flowers in May and June on a 36″ upright, bushy plant. Excellent golden fall color.

These are great natives! Come and check them out!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have 4 different types: Seaside Serenade Outer Banks (a rebloomer)
      Mariesii Variegata

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, I’m sorry we are sold out of Camellias at this time. In the spring we do carry April Dawn, but have not carried the Moonshadow- we’ll have to keep an eye out for that one!

  44. KRae

Do you carry chocolate white snakeroot, Gold Standard CoreopsisTickweed and/or Purple Dome New England Aster?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes we have Actea ‘Chocoholic’ which is the snakeroot plant. We don’t have the Gold Standard Coreopsis, though we do have several other varieties of yellow Coreopsis. And we will have the New England Asters later in the summer when it is closer to their bloom time.

  45. Jessica Ruff

    Hello,
I am interested in purchasing a gift card . Should I phone you or do you have a gift card on line?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes we offer gift cards, but don’t have them available on line. Please come in and enjoy our beautiful store and purchase one then.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No I’m sorry that’s a cultivar we don’t have currently, but we will look for it! If we find it, we’ll let you know.

Hi, can you get more colors of the creeping coleus this year? Watermelon, various shades of Purple, various shades of orange, etc? I buy an average of 30 pots each year and love to have all colors together in my pots. Thanks.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We carry numerous cultivars of trailing coleus, but the color range is really pretty limited for this kind of coleus. The varieties we carry are: Chocolate Drop, Burgundy Wedding Train, Lava Rose, Trailing Monarch, Tell Tale Heart, and Trailing Plum.

    1. Anonymous

I used to have tansy, the curled-leaf cultivar, in my garden, and I became sensitized to it – worse than poison ivy. A friend kindly dug it out for me, then showered and changed clothes.

      1. Susan Depietropaolo

It’s not uncommon to become sensitized to certain plants. Sometimes it has to do with our personal chemistry, sometimes the environmental factors affecting the plant and us, but you were wise to get someone else to dig it up and remove it….it’s not worth the aggravation of the rash to keep it around!

  48. Autumn

I am interested in purchasing a Hibiscus to attract Hummingbirds. I am a complete novice and could use help picking one out and the proper pot and soil to ensure that it grows nicely. Would you be able to help out?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Of course! WE have some very beautiful Hibiscus in stock and a very qualified staff who can answer all your questions.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes we have a landscape designer on staff and have crews to do the work for you. Please call for an appointment.

  49. Anne Gunn

    Hi,

Looking for Oak Leaf Hydrangea and Trumpet Vine? Do you have in stock currently, or will you be getting a supply of each and when? Thank you.

  50. Molly Jackson

Do you carry Kim’s Knee High Coneflowers? If so, have they come in yet? Have any coneflowers come in yet?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

We do carry Kim’s Knee High but it isn’t in yet. The coneflowers we do have are Magnus, Flame Thrower, and the straight species – Echinacea purpurea. We will be getting other varieties in as they are available, including the Kim’s Knee High.

  51. Mark

Will you be carrying the Scallywag Holly from Monrovia this year? If not, will you be carrying the Little Rascal Holly also from Monrovia?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Neither is a variety that we typically carry, but you can order directly from Monrovia and have it shipped with one of our deliveries for a very reasonable cost.

  52. Susan Brewster

Question: I have a bonsai ficus that is desperate for repotting, new potting medium, and “training”. Would you be able/willing to help me?

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes, we have an extensive bonsai collection and work with them ourselves so repotting and training are things we can do for you. Bring it in and let us have a look to see what it needs.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, that isn’t a cultivar that we typically keep on hand. If it is one you would like, you can order it directly from Monrovia and have it shipped with our shipments for a very reasonable cost.

  53. Marthe Adler

I am looking for mountain laurel, wild ginger (american not european), and amelanchier laevis to plant in a heavy shade area – do you carry? Thanks

    Thanks.

Saw blue tulips at the flower show do you have any? They were all over the flower show but have not been able to locate any for sale

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

No, we don’t carry them. The blue color is not a natural color, they were dyed, so it will not be a lasting trait.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Not yet, but it should be here in a week or two! The cold weather has slowed down our flowering plants a bit, as you can imagine. We do have very nice pansies, primroses, and ranunculus now though.

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Yes we will carry Purslane when the weather warms up and we start getting our annuals for the season. We sell it by the name Portulaca. It is a heat and drought tolerant workhorse that will bloom all summer for you in a sunny spot!

  57. Geri Gallagher

Your Christmas shop was magnificent. So many beautiful items. It’s the best in Wilmington. I was in yesterday just picking up a few more things for next year and some house plants to brighten up our winter. The women were painstakingly wrapping each item and storing what was left for Christmas 2017. What a job.
    Thank you so much!

    1. Susan Depietropaolo

Thanks for the kind remarks! It’s good to know others enjoy our shop as much as we do. We are open year round and have a wonderful selection of house plants and supplies so when you need to escape the winter doldrums come visit us!
